Question About Featured Blogs.
I submitted a blog to be featured ages ago titled "I hope my neighbor has an abortion". It got a few votes and was maybe number 10-20 in the rankings. I forgot about it, went back and checked just now and it's gone.
It wasn't featured, but it's gone from the list of candidates.
Does it "time out" after awhile or is xanga just censoring blogs now regardless of whether they have votes?

Good question.
I would figure after a while they go away, but I don't really know. I'm actually kind of confused as to how the majority of things work around here, but as long as I can blog and comment on other blogs I guess it doesn't really matter to me.
I remember that blog...I wonder how I got to it if it wasn't featured..
I remember it too. I thought it was featured. It it wasn't, (and of course you'd know, specially since it was controversial) it should have been, IMO. I thought it was a great blog to go out on featured.
As to your actual question, I'm afraid I have no idea. if it rolls off, maybe you can submit it again to be featured? I've never tried that with one that didn't get picked up, not tried to go back and look for it
Hot damn! I wanna read that blog now! Hmphf. I betchya they deleted it b/c they don't like you. Or maybe it timed out. I don't know anymore.
@Uek - Um, same way you got to this one?
@TheRiverIsEverywhere - It doesn't matter if they're censoring people? Nice.
@Loonsounds - It didn't get bumped off, it had votes. It either times out if it's not to the top by a certain date or they nuked it.
I know revelife asked to feature one of my blogs just to get it off the top of their list, then never featured it.
@LydJaGillers - Here's the link if you want to read it.
@agnophilo - Oh no, that isn't what I meant by that. I mean I haven't bothered to understand the ins and outs of Xanga because I'm not ever going to be featured or on top blogs or any of that. I don't really ever think about what goes into it. That would stink if they were censoring things, but I was under the impression that the decision on what they featured was ultimately in their hands anyway. Maybe I am wrong and it is solely supposed to be based on votes and if so, then censoring it would be wrong. But anyway, like I said, I don't really know how that stuff works on Xanga.
@TheRiverIsEverywhere - Okay. Sorry then.
Wait...there are Featured Blogs? What are those?
@BobRichter - Blogs featured on the homepage.
@agnophilo - There's a homepage?
(kindly excuse my sarcasm. I'm vaguely aware of these things. I just ignore them.)
@BobRichter - Featured blog on xanga gets you a few thousand views and maybe 300 comments average. A featured blog on some of the ish sites gets you like 25k hits, which is just insane.
@agnophilo - Well, sure. But I'd have to care about views and comments to care about that, wouldn't I?
@BobRichter - I only care about views if I write something I think people should read. I want to put it out there, provoke thought.
